Dog Trainer Heywood — Force-Free Training That Actually Works

Heywood has some great spots for a dog — Queen’s Park and Springfield Park for a proper walk, or Hopwood Woodlands and the Roch Valley nature site for something quieter. The trouble is, none of that helps much if your dog pulls, ignores your recall, or turns every walk into a battle.

I’m Jason, founder of Simply Dog Behaviour, and I’ve been training dogs across Heywood and the wider Rochdale area since 2010 — always force-free, always grounded in how dogs actually learn.

Common Issues I See in Heywood

Queen’s Park draws a lot of dogs and families, which is brilliant for socialisation once a dog can cope with it — but for a dog that isn’t there yet, it can mean pulling towards other dogs or overexcitement that’s hard to manage. Others struggle more with recall out around the quieter Roch Valley paths, where there’s plenty to get distracted by.

How Training Works

Every session is one-to-one, tailored to your dog, with no group classes. We work on reading your dog’s body language, practical force-free techniques, and a proper recall foundation you can trust — whether that’s around Queen’s Park or the quieter Hopwood Woodlands.
